In todays sped up, busy, digital world it often seems like good manners have taken a back seat. Telling people ‘Thank you’ is wired into my DNA as life is not a solo journey. It’s about experiences, ups and downs, wins and losses, emotions, but most importantly it comes down to other people.
We interact with others on a daily basis and it’s amazing how the lost art of thanking others is rarely discussed.
Slowing down to thank others is therapeutic and powerful on many fronts.
Here are a few of the benefits of thanking others:
*It makes us and the other person happy
*It slows us down to self-reflect
*It produces feelings of appreciation and gratitude
*It puts our time and life into a different perspective
*It puts us in a positive state of mind
So, here’s the challenge I give you today: who do you really need to thank in your business or personal life that you’ve been putting off for a long time? Once you’ve written down their name(s), it’s time to step it up. Pick up the phone, grab a note card and pen, or draft up an email/text message right now while it’s fresh on your mind and do it! It will not only make their day, but yours as well.
