Marketing Trailblazer

There’s not a day that goes by where I don’t think of Dan Kennedy’s advice and wisdom in relation to my own business and thoughts on marketing. I’ve been around what many clients and fans of his work call “Planet Dan” for more than twenty years now. I’ve devoured his books. I’ve attended countless seminars he’s led and have successfully put multiple tips and strategies he’s shared into action within my own business and with many of my direct clients.

His no BS approach to marketing and mentorship have helped me in two highly competitive industries (telecom and advertising) before venturing out on my own with my own publishing and training company. I must say that I was blessed and fortunate to meet him at a young age and bond quickly with his Midwestern style and results oriented philosophy of direct marketing versus traditional advertising or image marketing.

His results and track record over the past forty-plus years in the direct response and copywriting arena are legendary. They call him the millionaire maker for a reason. With a wide variety of people in multiple industries seeking the opportunity to work with him time and time again, he commands big fees and in many cases a piece of earnings tied to increased sales and equity within a company to even consider choosing to work with a potential client. That’s gutsy. Bold. That’s Dan Kennedy.

His results are legendary. If you ask almost any veteran direct marketer both online and offline, they will not only tell you how good Dan is at his craft, but that he’s also someone they’ve learned from and take very seriously. I’m not kidding when I say that he’s an alchemist who can write magnetic-style marketing copy that not only gets Mind Capture, but bottom line: big results for many of his clients.

 

The three main things I enjoyed most about my interview with Dan include:

 

1. He made a brutal assessment of why a crowded media universe, especially online, is not only making it harder to get attention but to keep clients coming back again.

2. For a large part of the interview, we discussed how Amazon is dominating not just across the board, but the impact it’s having on profit margins with a lot of brick-and-mortar firms. In short, very few businesses are safe anymore from the impact Amazon is having on purchasing and profit margins.

3. Dan built discipline into his daily life to not just write and create great marketing copy, but more importantly, to live the life of autonomy and freedom he chooses on his terms versus chasing down business.
